In the scene pictured above, Blue is animated by sticks running over the table. ” “I work a stick that attaches to the side of his head and secondly to the side of his neck,” explains Neal Scanlan. Next to me, another person moves the body with a stick to the side of his shoulder and another to the side. The next person grabs the tail, again with two sticks. Same for the legs. As with bicycle brakes, the jaw opens thanks to a lever and metal cables sliding within the sheaths. The lips, eyes, eyelids and membranes under the eyelids are operated by a servo motor system controlled by several remote controls. That’s why it takes fourteen people to bring Blue to life! »
