Showbiz Comedy Starring Seth Rogen Gets Apple TV+ Series Order;  Production by Point Gray & Lionsgate

EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive multi-bidder situation, Apple TV+ has picked up a comedy starring, co-writing, directing and executive producing Seth Rogen to direct commission, Deadline has learned. The project comes from Rogen, Evan Goldberg & James Weavers Point Gray Pictures and Lionsgate, where the company is based.

Written by Rogen, Goldberg and sweep Alumni Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory and directed by Rogen and Goldberg, the self-titled series is about an old Hollywood film studio trying to survive in a world where art and commerce are becoming increasingly difficult to co-exist.

Rogen, Goldberg and Weaver are executive producers on Point Grey; Huyck and Gregory also serve as executive producers and showrunners. Alex McAtee and Josh Fagen also serve as executive producers and Frida Perez is an associate producer. Lionsgate Television is the studio.

It’s the latest series to emerge from Point Grey’s multi-platform deal with Lionsgate, joining the Emmy nominees pam and tommy, which also starred Rogen, and the upcoming Jason Woliner series for Peacock. In addition, Point Gray has the popular Prime Video series The small team and its offshoots, as well as the animated series Invincible and the coming sausage party, also for Prime Video. As an actor, Rogen can be seen in Steven Spielberg’s The Fables. He is repped by UTA, Principal Entertainment LA and Felker Toczek Suddleson.

Gregory and Huyck are creators, writers and executive producers of HBO’s upcoming limited series Watergate The White House plumbers with Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux. They are represented by WME and attorney Ken Richman at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.

The Hollywood industry has been the backdrop for a number of series, mostly comedies, including HBO’s consequence and The Larry Sanders Show, on which Gregory and Huyck worked; it’s time for the show to start episodes and beggars and voters; as well as that of NBC 30 stones.
