yellowstone, no surprise, was a welcome sight for those who missed the Duttons. Sunday’s season five premiere on Paramount Network scored double-digit gains in all demos, especially among young adults, according to Nielsen findings.
The episode in which John Dutton (Kevin Costner) was sworn in as governor was 52% more mainstream among adults 18 to 34 (2.53 Live + Same Day vs. 1.67) compared to the Season 4 premiere and 22% more among adults aged 18 years. to 49 (3.96 L+SD vs. 3.26). It was also up 13% in adults 25 to 54 (5.48 L+SD vs. 4.85) and 10% in total viewers (8.8 million vs. 8 million).
The episode also aired on CMT, TV Land and Pop during its premiere night. As a result, more than 12 million viewers tuned in across all platforms. There were also double-digit gains across all major adult demos.
The episode opened with a reluctant Dutton taking on a new role in government – something he and his daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly) don’t like. “They are both incredibly reluctant to be there,” Reilly told Deadline. “I don’t think any of them have any interest in this world. But, and this is a big problem, Beth, like John, understands that it is necessary for airport construction to close. And the only way to force real change is for him to become governor. Seeing John and Beth in that position of power, maybe hurled into it, is not their way of playing. They are dirty in the way they do business and now they have to go and fix things. It’s kind of nice to see that Beth can’t quite handle it.
