EXCLUSIVE: Freeform will not order a second season everything is rubbish the comedy series starring, written and produced by 2 dope queens Phoebe Robinson.
Everything is waste, which premiered on July 13 and ended its first season on September 7, was Freeform’s least-watched and lowest-rated original series in linear ratings that year. The majority of Freeform’s reviews come from Hulu, but the network doesn’t release streaming viewing dates, so it’s unclear if the comedy has found its way digitally.
Based on Robinson’s book, Everything is waste follows Phoebe (Robinson), a 30-year-old podcast star, as she navigates her chaotic life. Forced to grow up when her older brother Jayden emerges as the leading political candidate, she relies on her friends and close family to help her grow up.
The series also stars Jordan Carlos, Toccarra Cash, Nneka Okafor and Moses Storm.
Everything is waste was produced by ABC Signature along with Robinson’s production company Tiny Reparations, directed by Jose Acevedo as Executive Producer. Jonathan Groff also served as executive producer. Directed by co-executive producer Chioke Nassor.
