Minister Gérald Darmanin is therefore the first guest of this new formula of Face à Baba, in a national and international context, especially with the murder of little 12-year-old Lola. No longer just a spectator but an actor in the debate, the Minister, facing the public, wanted to be close to the French people and their concerns.
In the second episode of Face à Baba, Cyril Hanouna continues his entertainer costume. Then Gérald asks Darmanin if he is the new Nicolas Sarkozy. “First of all, my wife is prettier than Carla Bruni. Even though I really like Carla Bruni”, then he jokes with Emmanuel Macron’s Minister.
As Cyril Hanouna answered him “Carla is beautiful, we kiss her”To which Gérald Darmanin hastened to add, “but you don’t know my wife”.
In a more serious tone, Gérald Darmanin said, “There is a lot of love for Nicolas Sarkozy”. “But he is a different person, he has a different character from mine”, it adds.
Admiring the former President, Gérald Darmanin admits: “I really like his energy, exactly to change things. Nicolas Sarkozy missed some things. But I think he’s a great president and a great interior minister.”
It puts things in context quickly: “20 years ago he was the interior minister. There were no social networks, no shows, no permanent news channels, no Islamic terrorism as we know it today. His problem was Corsican terrorism. Which is irrelevant. These are very different times.”
He adds: “I don’t find it insulting to be compared to Nicolas Sarkozy, I find it very proud when under pressure”.
