“It’s a sacrifice”: Audrey Crespo-Mara, separated from her football player son, is confident in their relationship

On Monday (August 1st), journalist Audrey Crespo-Mara confided in the departure of her son, football player Sékou Mara, who was transferred to an English club.

Audrey Crespo-Mara, a real chicken mother, had a very bad experience with her son Sékou Mara going to England. It must be said that the 20-year-old young man has been talked about a lot in recent weeks.

The young football player, who joined Bordeaux in 2017 at the age of 15, continues to progress. Therefore, he naturally joined the Girondins de Bordeaux club for the 2020/2021 season. He was noticed by football professionals thanks to the game he played.

In a press release from the club, “He confirmed his qualifications on the field in 36 matches played for Bordeaux between 2020-2022. During this time, he scored 7 goals and made 4 assists.” With great difficulty, the Bordeaux club decided to leave their colts to earn money. Therefore, Sékou Mara was acquired by English club Southampton FC for 11 million euros in the Premier League, one of the most famous championships on the planet. It’s a great development for the young man who left his hometown of France to join his new teammates.

A departure that greatly influenced her mother, journalist Audrey Crespo-Mara. On Europe 1’s microphone, he admits: “I’ve been in football since he was little, which is why I’ve seen him very young. I’m a mother hen, so it was complicated”. But this trip to England isn’t all that scary for Thierry Ardisson’s traveling companion: “I’ve already seen the road, it’s not far from Bordeaux”.

Proud of his son, the LCI journalist is happy that he can live out of his passion, even if for this the young man outlived his family for a long time. “This is a sacrifice made by the boy himself and his accompanying parents. He went to Clairefontaine at the age of 13, so I only saw him on weekends”.

The journalist had two children, Sékou and Lamine, with her ex-husband, entrepreneur Aliou Mara.
