Events at the Stade de France: great gesture from Liverpool to young fans

The aim is to restore passion to the very young fans who had nightmares in the Champions League final.

They had been through hell in Saint-Denis last May. Some had their first experience in a stadium on this sad evening of the Champions League final. Young Liverpool fans, many of whom came with their families, were treated unworthy of a sports arena. Many were gassed, while others were looted as they left the Stade de France after seeing their team lose to Real Madrid (0-1).

Fortunately, these young fans can count on the support of their heart club, which is often known for rewarding the extraordinary loyalty of its people. The Reds decided to distribute free tickets to children who witnessed the traumatic events on 28 May.

These tickets will allow them to participate in the friendly match against Strasbourg at Anfield on 31 July. A gesture in favor of children under 16. We are talking about 500 tickets given to children and their companions.

We are fully aware of the incredible difficulty of the experience for all fans attending the match. Scenes seen in and around the Stade de France, before and after kick-off, will long be remembered for all the wrong reasons. The club is also aware that some of the children attending the match have had such a bad experience that this negative impact has also affected their willingness to attend football matches in the future.“, in a letter addressed to his supporters, informed the club.

We understand that a child (under 16) accompanied you to the UEFA Champions League final and therefore we are contacting you to invite your child and an accompanying adult to the Reds’ next pre-season friendly match against Strasbourg on Sunday, 31 July. Anfield […] We hope that inviting you and your child to Anfield will help provide some comfort and reassurance so they feel safe and able to attend football matches both at home and outside in the future.
