A new title has recently joined Netflix’s “true crimes” catalogue. Inside A lease in hell (Worst Roommate Ever According to its original title), the platform highlights four scary stories about roommates.

Thus, we explore with horror the case of Dorothea Puente, named after this Sacramento landlady who was accused of poisoning and then burying in her garden nine defenseless victims whose checks she continued to cash after their deaths. Convicted in 1993 after being found guilty of only three murders and known as the ‘killer grandmother’, she died in prison in 2011 at the age of 82.

In this 5-part documentary series, the murder of Maribel Ramos by her roommate KC Joy, the criminal journey of charismatic fraudster Youssef Khater, as well as the gruesome story of Jamison Bachman, nicknamed the “serial slum”, are also brought to light.
