Less than a week after Paula Abdul accused Nigel Lythgoe of sexually abusing her twice in the past two decades, So you think you can dance Co-creator was met with a new suit by two other women. Unlike the actions of the former american idol Judge, this latest blow to Lythgoe may not have much legal impact.
Jane Doe KG and Jane Doe KN filed a civil lawsuit for assault, sexual harassment and negligence against John Roe NL over an alleged assault in May 2003. Although not fully credited, Deadline confirmed that John Roe NL Lythgoe is, a producer on an all-female competition show. All American Girls (the “AAG” of Tuesday series) during its one-year run on ABC.

In connection with Abdul’s detailed lawsuit on December 29 against Lythgoe for alleged sexual assault idolIn the early seasons of 2015 and in 2015 when the Grammy winner was present SYTYCDThe two Jane Does’ similar claims seem to carry some weight.
Unless you have a calendar.
First, the complaint states that Jane Doe KG was “born in November 1997”. It is safe to assume that the DOB assigned her to kindergarten age at the time of the attack in question. This is a mistake, but it needs to be fixed.
More importantly, the Jane Does filed their suit, as did Abdul’s complaint, under California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Liability Act, which allows civil suits over claims that would otherwise be barred by the statute of limitations.
Or rather: allowed.
The Sexual Assault and Cover-Up Liability Act expired on December 31. Since Abdul’s filing, the truth of which Lythgoe vehemently denies, took place on December 29, the “Straight Up” singer must take legal action against Lythgoe and his co-accused. American Idol Productions, Dance Nation Productions, 19 Entertainment and Fremantlemedia North America. However, Jane Doe KG and Jane Doe KN and their lawyers filed their lawsuit today – putting it outside the reach of the Liability Act.
Attorneys at Arias Sanguinetti Wang & Team did not respond to a request for clarification or comment on the complaint or its timing. Lythgoe representatives have also not responded to the latest allegations.
If any of these parties respond, this post will be updated.
