“Captain Nemo” series “Nautilus” is coming to AMC following the exit of Disney+ UK

The series landed on AMC, where it will air in 2024, and on AMC+. The move comes after the streamer canceled Disney+ UK commissions as part of its content removal plan earlier this summer.

nautilus tells the origin story of Captain Nemo: an Indian prince robbed of his birthright and family, a prisoner of the East India Trading Company, and a man seeking revenge on the powers that took everything from him.

It’s the latest series Disney has canceled as part of its efforts to cut streaming costs — The Mouse House will take a write-down of about $1.5 billion to $1.8 billion — to find a new home. The Spiderwick Chronicleswhich was also canceled on Disney+, has found a home on Roku.

The series was filmed in Australia early last year with support from the Australian government and is distributed by Disney Entertainment. It was produced by Xavier Marchand’s Moonriver Studios and Anand Tucker’s Seven Stories.

Shazad Latif plays Nemo, the Indian prince who sets out with his crew aboard the impressive Nautilus to not only fight his enemy but also discover a magical underwater world.

Georgia Flood and Thierry Frémont also star, while Pacharo Mzembe, Arlo Green, Tyrone Ngatai, Ling Cooper Tang, Andrew Shaw, Ashan Kumar, Céline Menville and Kayden Price complete the cast.

James Dormer writes and produces with Johanna Devereaux, Chris Loveall, Colleen Woodcock and Daisy Gilbert. Cameron Welsh serves as producer and Michael Matthews serves as lead director.
