While discussing the controversial Argentine politician Javier Milei, Oliver showed an interview in which the member of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies became completely upset when he saw a photo of his dog. During an interview on a news program, pictures of Milei appeared in the background and his dog Conan was visible for a moment.
“There’s Conan,” Milei said, ignoring the interviewer for a moment.
“Yeah, it’s Conan,” the interviewer said.
“It’s Conan,” Milei continued with a smile on his face, completely derailing the interview.
Oliver said Milei appeared “compassionate” at the time, adding: “He was simply distracted by his own dog, the way dogs are distracted by a squirrel.”
“It’s hard for me to criticize honestly because that’s how I react if I ever see a picture of — oh, it’s Conan,” Oliver said as a picture of O’Brien appeared on the screen.
Oliver tried to turn the ship around and continue talking about Milei, but another picture of O’Brien appeared, distracting him again. A third image of O’Brien appeared and Oliver once again lost focus on the main subject.
A fourth image distracted Oliver again, but this time O’Brien came alive and said, “Stop staring at me, John. I’m not a piece of meat.”
Oliver looked surprised that O’Brien’s photo had come to life and apologized as the comedian returned to his pose and froze again.
