Britney Spears gives insights into her life in the memoir The woman in me and makes some surprising revelations. The pop star opens up about what really happened during her heavily criticized 2007 MTV VMAs performance and why she doesn’t think she enjoyed the time The X Factor USA.
Spears performed “Gimme More” in Las Vegas at the VMAs and was slammed by viewers at home because the star appeared to be completely beside herself. A few years ago, a video of her rehearsal leaked online, showing Spears performing her musical number flawlessly in contrast to the live performance. Now Spears is revealing that she had an unpleasant encounter with her ex Justin Timberlake that left her emotional.
“It’s been a while since I saw him. All was going well in his world. He was on top of his game in every way and had a lot of confidence. I had a panic attack. I didn’t practice enough. I hated how I looked. “I knew it was going to be bad,” Spears wrote in her memoir Daily email.
In addition to her appearance, Spears was also criticized for her musical performance as her hair extensions were clearly visible.
“There was a problem with my costume and my hair extensions. I didn’t sleep the night before. I was dizzy. “It hasn’t even been a year since I had my second child in two years, but everyone acted like it was insulting that I didn’t have six-pack abs,” she wrote. “I couldn’t believe that I had to go on stage like that. I went out there and did my best at the time, which – yes, admittedly – was nowhere near my best at other times. I could see myself on video on the other side of the hall during my performance; It was like I was looking at myself in a funny mirror.
The “Kill the Lights” singer was set to become a judge in the show’s second season The X factor with producer LA Reid, Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell. Spears wrote in her book that she did not enjoy the talent show experience.
“I think a lot of people are very professional on television, like Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani. When the camera is on them, they thrive. And that’s great. “I could do that when I was younger, but I feel like I’m aging backwards again when I’m scared,” Spears said. “And so I got to the point where I was very, very nervous when I knew I had to be on the air, and I didn’t like being nervous all day… If you give me a nice cameo giving up on a nice TV show where I’m in and out in a day, that’s one thing, but to be skeptical for eight hours straight while judging TV? No thanks. I absolutely hated it.”
