Goodbye Twitter’s bluebird. Elon Musk changes the name of the social network to the letter “X”

Elon Musk said goodbye to Twitter’s famous blue bird logo. The microblogging platform is now known as the letter “X”, which has captivated the billionaire since the 1990s.

Billionaire Elon Musk changed his Twitter branding to “X” and said goodbye to the iconic blue bird logo. He announced his change plans on Sunday, July 23.

Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed that the microblogging platform will now be called “X”: “Twitter has made a huge impact and changed the way we communicate. Today X will go even further and transform the global public sphere”.

Linda Yaccarino tweeted: “X is the future of unlimited interaction centered on voice, video, messaging, payments/banking, creating a global market for ideas, products, services and opportunities. Powered by artificial intelligence, X will connect us all in ways we’ve only just begun to imagine.”

According to the Tesla CEO, the x.com domain also redirects to twitter.com.

“The move is not surprising given Musk’s long history with the ‘X’ name,” Allen Adamson, co-founder of marketing consulting firm Metaforce, told The Associated Press (AP).

Controversial Elon Musk last night started tweeting about Twitter’s rebranding as X, the one-letter name he always uses in company and product names, and he did it for hours. It started with a tweet that said “soon we’ll be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand and slowly all the birds”, followed by a second tweet adding “if a good enough X logo is released tonight, we’ll go live worldwide tomorrow”.

In the hours that followed, Elon Musk made gestures to switch between other posts and replies, tweeting like “Deus X” or replying to other users talking about it.

According to a post from platformer editor-in-chief Zoe Schiffer, Elon Musk also reportedly sent Twitter employees an email last night saying that the company went to X and that this was the last email post from a Twitter address. He added that since the Twitter business had already been renamed X corp, he assumed he meant the logo.

The letter “X” is featured on almost everything Elon Musk has touched for over two decades. X.com was Paypal’s original name; his company appears on behalf of SpaceX; On behalf of the Tesla SUV; son’s name is X Æ A-12; and he said he wanted to turn Twitter into “X, the app for everything.” Today, it’s finally doing something with the X.com domain it bought from Paypal in 2017.
