Pain is one of the body’s strongest defense systems and is essential for survival. But when it gets better over time, it turns into a disease: chronic pain. Adriana Karembeu and Michel Cymes explore the many facets of pain to understand how pain works and how it is treated in France…
Why did you decide to deal with chronic pain?
Adriana Karembeu: Because 12 million French suffer from it! I was shocked to learn that 28% of chronic pain patients want to die! Michel (Cymes, editor’s note) we realized that pain is extremely complex as it is linked to family background, beliefs and environment…
Have you served as a guinea pig for the purposes of the program?
Yes, because we wanted to know how to measure pain, which is very complex as it is a subjective feeling. We react differently with Michel! (laughs)
Are you implying that men are more comfortable than women…
Everything is about pain. A woman can support childbirth, while a man cannot. Michel tolerated a laser test much better than I did.
You acted in Plus belle la vie in 2021. Do you have other such projects?
Yes ! I’m shooting a movie that’s being written and I just finished a non-medical drama. Since my daughter (Nina, born 2018) was born, I have become more confident and more and more interested in comedy, cinema or TV.
