AC/DC, Forever Young (Arte): A look at the career of the legendary rock band

Along with the Rolling Stones, they are one of the biggest rock bands still in existence. Behind this success, as this unreleased documentary deciphers, there are three brothers…

AC/DC no longer means alternating current and direct current. Active since 1973, the Australian band has conquered several generations thanks to a unique sound conceived by the eldest George, producer and unofficial leader, and passed down to his younger brothers Malcolm and Angus. Appearing on the stages of Melbourne, the epicenter of Australian rock’n’roll, in the late 1960s, the band embarked on their secret recipe marathon tour to bring their fans together.

George, the inspiration

Without George Young (died 2017), Malcom and Angus’ older brother, the guitarist, had success first in Australia, then worldwide with Easybeats, and especially with their hit Friday on My Mind (1966) – AC/. DC would probably never see the light of day. It was he who encouraged and later co-produced his two younger brothers to get started.

Malcolm, leader

Also, the most common sense of the Young brothers, who disappeared in 2017, was the driving force of AC/DC in the opinion of all the personalities interviewed in the film. A guitarist, but not as talented as Angus. He was 20 years old when he founded the band in 1973. AC/DC is said to have sold 200 million albums worldwide since its founding.

Angus, survivor

Considered one of the greatest if not one of the world’s greatest rock guitarists, Angus (68) is still at the helm of AC/DC despite Malcom’s death. Backed by vocalist Brian Johnson. Their latest album, Power Up, hit #1 in sales in France and the United States in 2020.
