Michel Cordes, who has played the character of Roland Marci for nearly 20 years in the Plus Belle La Vie series, was found dead in his home on Friday, May 5, 2023.
The 77-year-old actor was found dead with a firearm in his home in Grabels in Hérault, where he resided, in October 2021.
Michel Cordes left Plus belle la vie last October, just over a month before the final episode aired. His character died of a heart attack while playing street football with his grandson. A little shocked, like all the actors, at the abrupt ending of the show, he told the Parisian: “It’s a little embarrassing. Many fans don’t want this to end. They’re tied to the soap opera. I didn’t think France Télévisions would stop it so brutally. I dreamed of my debut because I’m a little tired”.
Although her role in Plus belle la vie brought her fame and financial security, she also closed many doors for her, as she explained to Télé Star: “A director chose me for a role, but the producer fired me for the role because I didn’t.” Plus belle I don’t want the “Marseilles” in charge of la vie. Since the end of the series, Michel Cordes had acted with common sense. If the suicide thesis came up too quickly, it seems to have been confirmed today. The mayor of Grabels was questioned by our Parisian colleagues. According to the information they received, “The actor must have left a letter implying suicide. A gendarme investigation was launched to confirm this”.
Yesterday, Saturday, May 6, the Montpellier prosecutor’s office also confirmed to AFP that the suicide route was privileged. An autopsy will be done at the beginning of the week.
