Paul El Kharrat, the triumphs of an autistic Asperger’s (RMC Story) – Laurent Ruquier: "I fell in love with Paul"

Portrait of Paul El Kharrat, a history buff and carrier of Asperger’s syndrome with a very exceptional culture and memory.

Paul El Kharrat has gained an extraordinary reputation since his televised debut in the play “Twelve Noon” in 2019. Television, radio, press, literature, this phenomenon cannot be overlooked. As sympathetic as he is unconventional, this history buff has a rather exceptional culture and memory. These abilities earned him the nickname “WikiPaul”. But if Paul became the darling of the French people at the age of 19 after five and a half months of publications and 152 victories, it is also and above all thanks to his courage and determination to overcome his obstacle. Paul reports that he has had Asperger’s syndrome since his television debut: a highly obscure form of autism, diagnosed at the age of 16.

Like many, I fell in love with Paul and no one around me can hurt him, believe me! So says Laurent Ruquier of Paul El Kharrat, member of Les Grosses Têtes on RTL since November 2020. A few months ago, the youngest champion in TV gaming history (he was 19 when he won his 152nd victory in 12 Coup de midi, in TF1) was invited to Children of TV where Ruquier saw him: “ I realized that he might be an original Big Head (…). It has character and that’s what I need in the show. »
