The kidnapping of model Chloe Ayling is dramatized by ‘Killing Eve’ author Georgia Lester for the BBC

EXCLUSIVE: The high-profile kidnapping of British model Chloe Ayling is dramatized for the BBC by kill Eve Author Georgia Lester.

BBC youth channel BBC3 has given the go-ahead for the six-part series True Crime, which will be produced by BBC Studios. Casting is underway before production begins later this year.

Ayling teamed up with BBC Studios to tell her story after she was kidnapped in Italy in 2017 after traveling to Milan for a photo shoot. She was released unharmed after six days.

The series entitled Working kidnappedwill follow their ordeal from kidnapping to their resilience in captivity and the subsequent trial that landed their captors in prison.

Ayling’s experience made headlines in the UK and Ayling was accused of staging the kidnapping to publicize it, despite the conviction of her attackers.

Lester who was the head writer of the Netflix series by Idris Elba Dress up Charliesaid: “I spent every moment researching this series and spending time with Chloe, learning about the ordeal she went through, both from the men who kidnapped her and the people who doubted her was shocking and annoying.”

Fiona Campbell, Controller of Youth Audience for iPlayer and BBC3 said kidnapped would tell Ayling’s story “from within” and be brought to the screen with “sensitivity and insight”.

Priscilla Parish, head of drama at BBC Studios, added: “This is an astonishing true story of a woman who survived a terrible ordeal in her mind, only to be vilified afterwards.”

Al Mackay (Without sin) is directing with Clare Shepherd producing. Executive producers are Parish, Michael Parke and Andrew Morrissey for BBC Studios; Lucy Richer for the BBC; and Lester.
