Fans of the series were looking forward to its return to the screens! For some, unconvinced by the previous season, one thing is for sure, the presence of Lucie Mariotti as a love coach on the show is still highly appreciated. In particular, witness the many messages on her Instagram account in the announcement of the upcoming broadcast of the show’s 8th season, which we will explore tonight at 6pm on TFX, 14 anonymous broken hearts trying to rebuild themselves. “I have to admit we’ve been a bit off from this drama but we were so intrigued by the anonymous people, we previewed the first 2 episodes and can’t wait to see the rest”, wrote one user on Instagram. We decided to speak to Lucie to answer some questions so she can tell us more about the cast, the highlights and tell us about her brand new project.
“I felt like I sent my practice to Mexico”
We know you brought your views on the final selection of broken hearts, what was the significance of switching profiles?
We’ve been talking about anonymous candidates with the production team for several seasons because that’s what viewers do to social networks, comments, etc. a request made on a regular basis. we were asked “Why are there no anonymous people?” and it’s true that the problem arose from the very beginning, but it wasn’t the choice made when the series was created, but it was an evolving choice. Throughout the seasons, we still had a few anonymous people until this season 8, when we decided that there would actually be only anonymous people. It’s still a pretty risky bet because having candidates who already had media exposure from reality TV also meant that their communities would come to watch the show to follow their adventures.
Why did you take this risk?
We still chose to take the risk of saying to ourselves ‘what we want today and we want to do to ourselves in season 8’, this is the privilege of letting go of issues that are very relevant to the reality of the changing and changing world. as young people do today. That was the idea. Having broken hearts that the public can more easily identify as they represent the reality of what we went through in France.
What do you think about this rule change?
As a coach, it was very similar to what I experience daily in my office as 99% of my clients are anonymous. I found myself in a certain comfort zone, which was not unpleasant at all, on the contrary, quite comfortable, because I felt like I was experiencing what I was going through in my office, but finally on TV, more strongly than before. I felt like I sent my practice to Mexico (laughs).
What makes one candidate appeal to you more than another?
I think what particularly touches a person to me is that at some point they agree to put themselves in a vulnerable position. Integrity, vulnerability, authenticity are the things that touch me because I admire the courage of the person concerned. I’ve been doing this for 12 years and I know how much courage it takes to literally throw yourself into the void in front of someone you don’t know or even in front of a TV show. because we know that we will be watched and therefore judged by other people we do not know and who do not know us. As you watch the show, you’ll find that this vulnerability has been the cornerstone and cornerstone of the entire season and all the contenders. Indeed, there is a thought that says ‘I throw myself into the void to see what other people will think’, I find this admirable at their age. They managed to ignore all this and emptied themselves without asking, ‘Is this the way it is?’ To work against me?’.
Are there any candidates who touch you more than others?
Surprisingly, one of the people who impressed me the most, the person who would be the most controversial, I think… It was Yannis who came to the villa in a certain way because he came in his presence, not with his ex. ex-girlfriend who was part of the cast with a particular problem. Yannis’s ‘love disgusts me’ problem struck me, although his words and way of speaking on the subject were shocking. What I found crazy was that he dared talk about it on TV. He spoke words that I thought would make a lot of people jump, but what I remember once again is the inclusivity and courage needed to dare to say it beyond words. I say ‘I’m not a good man’ and I say it because I want to change.
Were some candidates impatient about solving their problems?
There was no impatience in that sense and they didn’t convey it to me anyway. On the other hand, I was looking forward to getting into coaching. I have never eaten as much as this year! Some of them were so scared they were happy they didn’t win and most of them said to me ‘it’s finally me!’, ‘But Lucie, when are you coaching me?’ or even ‘I thought I was going’. It was really the impatience of a kid who said, ‘Why isn’t it my turn? late this week’. They were really eager to get into coaching, but I didn’t feel at home with them, and yet I got the idea that I would solve everything in practice with a magic wand wave. I told them that I couldn’t solve their problems in one or three coaching sessions, but they didn’t have that belief anyway.
How do you “fix” a broken heart?
with very much love. I think that the first material to be provided to someone who comes in wounded, broken, in pain, is to truly look at them with all the heart and with all the love one has, to surround them and accompany them. When a talented person looks at him, he has to say to himself, ‘this person sees me and does not judge me, he loves and accepts what he sees’. I think that’s the beginning of everything, and then… I can also say that when people come to see me in the office When hearts sit in front of me, the first thing I do is send them all the love I have right now.
Can you tell us about your YouTube channel? Why did you start this format?
A while ago, I unofficially opened my YouTube channel. through the seasons Broken Hearts VillaI said to myself that I wanted to open up a space of absolute freedom for me, whether it be in tone, subject or people, through the books I wrote, the podcasts and shows I presented. I was going to buy it, I wanted something very spontaneous, thanks to YouTube. I want to take people live during interviews, film some of my coaching with people who like it and think it can help others. I want to be able to comfortably share a thought that comes to my mind and that I think can shed light on someone, and most of all, I want to talk about serious issues in a light way. I want to do all this in the ‘déconnade’, which is an aspect of my personality that we hardly get to see and which I am not accustomed to discover in La Villa because I have this legal role. .
