Saturday Night Live Michael Che celebrated the April Fool’s Day prank by pranking his Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost during the live segment.
It appeared to be business as usual for Jost and Che on the NBC late night show as both hosts poked fun at the week’s news. However, one thing was missing when Jost delivered his Donald Trump zingers: laughter.
Every time Jost said the punchline to his jokes, the audience’s laughter was tepid. On the other hand, when it was Che’s turn to make a joke, the audience was delighted with a roar of laughter.
Jost then made another round of making more jokes, and Che came straight to his co-host: “I told them not to make fun of you on April Fool’s Day.”
When everything was open, Jost covered his face with his hands, not believing that he had been fooled by Che.
“Am I not targeted?” Jost said he was wondering. “And then I was like, ‘Oh, I’m just worthless.'”
Jost couldn’t hold back his laughter when Che tried to push the show forward with a joke about Marjorie Taylor Greene. Jost still hadn’t recovered from the joke and heard Che say, “God, you’re bad.”
Che ended his joke and Jost continued to laugh after falling victim to the April Fool’s joke, adding, “That’s the meanest thing you’ve ever done to me. I’m sweaty.”
Jost received support from the crowd, but he yelled back, “Don’t even dare.” After the joke, it was hard for Jost to get back into the mocking mood, as he was mocking the whole time.
