How would you describe this third chapter of Marie Jourdan’s adventures?
Mimi Mathy: A family epic that quickly turns into a thriller. It begins in a festive atmosphere of Marie and Pierre’s thirty-five years of marriage, before Marie’s hierarchical supervisor comes to arrest her son and softens the atmosphere.
This scenario finally makes us discover the hero’s husband, Pierre…
Yes, and I’m so glad it was interpreted by Patrick Raynal, who we met for an episode before. Josephine.
Is it intentional that this character is a restaurateur like your real-life husband Benoît?
When screenwriter Laurent Mondy asked what I wanted my imaginary husband to do, I replied that it would have been easier if he had owned a restaurant, as I knew the industry well.
During one scene, Pierre holds the record for Michel Fugain and Big Bazar. Not completely innocent either.
You are right. I’m not the one who chose this disc, but I’m actually paying some homage to my “fugainesque” past. I was 16 at the time when I presented myself to Michel. He thought I was a very nice person, but he advised me to finish school first and added that he would call me when he found something. Then he invited me to audition. We then worked on singing and comedy for two years and finally on a show that never aired! (Laughs) That’s how I got into the one-man show and it all came together.
For Marie, above all, they are a succession of troubles. With her son Alex (Mathieu Coniglio), as well as her daughter Louise (Juliette Chêne), who criticizes her for neglecting her. Is this an opportunity for you to express other aspects of your character?
Of course, to be able to show more intimate things. With the character of Josephine, who helps everyone, I completely distance myself from my work. There’s Marie’s worries, she’s in pain. But fortunately, he can always count on the support of his friend Paul, played by Mathieu Delarive. According to the departments, each takes care of the other.
Why does the action take place in Angoulême and not in Lyon, where Marie is the captain of PJ? Doesn’t he live there with his family?
Due to Covid, we had to change our plans at the last minute. It was easier to work in a smaller town like Angoulême, where our producers had already shot something else.
We have learned that you will not be attending the Les Enfoirés concert this year for medical reasons. Comfort us…
I have to have a minor operation on my back. It has nothing to do with what I experienced five years ago, when I had to sit still for a while. A minor revision required by my somewhat “unconventional” physique. (laughs)
