SNL parodied the Darren Aronofsky film The whale in tonight’s episode where he mocks movie star Brendan Fraser for wearing a real suit.
The sketch begins as the director of an upcoming film titled The hippopotamustells his cast of four — including Harrelson, who played Keith, an actor who gained 250 pounds to play the lead — that the project is underway.
The director apologizes to the Quad for all the sacrifices they made to be in the film: one complained about having to dye her hair brown, another about growing a beard, and a third because he waste two weeks with a therapist.
Poor Keith was horrified by his co-star’s petty grievances as he made him eat brown bread for 6 months to gain 250 pounds, little knowing he could have gotten away with wearing a proper suit. It’s worth noting that Harrelson wore a decent suit for the sketch.
The director reveals it later The hippopotamus has been canceled because it has almost exactly the same script as The whaleKeith can’t get the role in an upcoming Marvel movie due to being overweight.
“I think the ship has sailed,” he said. “I’m not exactly in X-Men form right now.”
