Sherry New York, special unit is in mourning. This Sunday, February 19, Hollywood Reporter Actor Richard Belzer has reportedly died at his home in Bozouls, in the south of France, at the age of 78. The actor was best known for his role as Inspector John Munch in several American TV series, including Murder (1993-1999) and New York, special unit (1999-2016).
Since the announcement of Richard Belzer’s disappearance, compliments from former comrades have followed one another on Instagram. Following Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson on the show, editor’s note), Ice-T (Odafin Totuola) salutes the actor’s memory: “Today I wake up to find that I have lost my friend. Belze gone… Damn! (…) I will miss you, my friend.“Chris Meloni (Elliot Stabler) also paid tribute to the person nicknamed “Belz”: “Richard ‘Belz’ Belzer. A beautiful soul, an elegant man with a child’s soul. I’ve never met anyone like him and never will again. Your last words made it easier for you to accept his death.“
Dean Winters (Brian Cassidy) has published a beautiful text for Richard Belzer:Richard Belzer was my brother. We became friends very quickly when I was a bartender in ’92 when I played my first role on NBC’s Homicide. She called me in 1998 and said, “Baby, Dick Wolf is doing a new show called Law & Order: SVU and he wants me to be on this show too. I told Dick, but Dean Winters is my partner. Baby, are you in? I was in this class now There aren’t many people who have it. Richard Belzer had class every day. I will miss this man so much.“
