‘Queen Charlotte’: ‘Bridgerton’ Prequel Sets Premiere Date;  Drops teaser trailer and new photos

The limited Netflix series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will premiere on May 4, 2023, creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes announced Tuesday during a virtual fan event. The trailer above gives a first look at the project.

It was also announced that the Queen’s Ball Experience will dance in a new location this spring: New York City.

The BridgetonVersprequel focuses on Queen Charlotte’s rise to fame and power. The series tells the story of how the young queen’s marriage to King George sparked an amazing love story and social change, creating the clay world lived by the characters in Bridgeton.

Golda Rosheuvel will reprise the role of titular queen and introduce India Amarteifio as young Charlotte, a young woman on the verge of greatness, but at a price. Also returning from the original series are Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury, Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton, and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley. Arsema Thomas will make her TV debut as young Agatha Danbury, Charlotte’s friend and confidant when Her Majesty needed guidance the most. Corey Mylchrest play young King George, a handsome and charming king with a mysterious past that prevents him from fully surrendering to love.

Other casting calls include Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Sam Clemmett as young Brimsley, Freddie Dennis as Reynolds, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolf, Rob Maloney as Royal Physician, and Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury.

Queen Charlotte is by showrunner, executive producer and writer Shonda Rhimes. Director Tom Verica is executive producer along with Betsy Beers.
