Helena Bonham Carter appears in two seasons of The crown and as the Netflix drama approaches today, the actor believes the series should not be continued.
Carter played the ‘surrogate’ Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon and was recently asked to comment on Prince Harry’s book.
“I don’t really want to contribute to the whole thing. It is complicated and out of context. And I think it got enough attention,” Carter told The Guardian of Harry’s book, titled Spare.
Although Carter attended The crownShe doesn’t think the series should continue and says: “I have to be careful here too, but I don’t think they really should continue.” I’m in and I loved my episodes, but now it’s very different. As The crown it began as a historical drama, and now it has plunged into the present. But it depends on them.”
The sixth season of The crown deals with the death of Princess Diana and will apparently be the show’s last season. Series creator Peter Morgan said he “couldn’t write anything” if there wasn’t enough time to get a good perspective on the events.
“Peter made it very clear that if he doesn’t have time to get a good perspective, he just can’t write anything,” Mackie told Broadcast Now. “And I think he always felt that 10 years was the minimum time he could see something in a historical context so he could really understand it. I don’t think he will deviate from that.”
