In new set photos from the show’s sixth season Crown From Netflix, an unnamed actress dressed as Spice Girls’ Ginger Spice (aka Geri Halliwell) was spotted filming scenes at Winchester Cathedral in England. On the same day, Dominic West, who played Prince Charles in the series, was seen on the set between filming.
Wearing a dress in the colors of Union Jack, one of Ginger’s legendary outfits, and boots decorated with a flag, the actress saluted the cameras as she passed by the cathedral. He was surrounded by men in colorful suits.
This look is particularly notable given the real-life notorious history between Ginger and Charles.
In 1997, the Spice Girls – Geri, Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton – met Prince Charles at a Princess Trust concert in Manchester. It was there that Back and Mel B (aka Scary Spice) kissed Charles’ face, leaving bright red patches of lipstick on the eyes of the world. So shocking! Indeed, the protocol requires members of the royal family not to be touched.
At the event, Geri was also accused of ‘pinching’ Charles’ butt – which he later downplayed.
‘I didn’t pinch Prince Charles’ butt as reported’ Geri told The Times in May 2016. “I stroked her. It was against royal protocol to pat her butt, but we’re all human.”He justified himself!
In a recent interview, Mel C (aka Sporty Spice) talked about their famous meeting with Charles.
“I was one of the shyest members of the group at the time, so when the girls kissed Prince Charles, I was secretly startled.” He told People in September last year. I think : “Oh my God, I can’t believe they did this.”
However, over time, he managed to look at the event differently.
“But now I’m really proud that the girls are doing it because I think that’s one of the reasons the world fell in love with the Spice Girls.”said Mel C.”We did what everyone wanted to do, and it was never in bad faith. It was always with a smile”
He added: “Now that Charles is our king, that makes things even more mischievous. Those mischievous Spice Girls!”
We’ll still have to wait to find out if the legendary reunion between Charles and the girls’ group will be on the air.
The sixth season, currently in production, will be the final season of The Crown. Elizabeth Debicki, who played Princess Diana in the fifth and sixth seasons of E! News, “It really is. Last season.”
