Basic program on M6 side, Beijing Express is about to return. The channel presented the 17th season of the adventure program, which will start broadcasting soon, to the press on Friday, January 20. This new edition, entitled secret choiceIt was an opportunity for the production to set a new rule for the candidates, and that risks completely turning their adventures upside down.
As is usually the case with Beijing Express, the last couple to reach the stage will have to participate in the final duel in a test, with or without elimination. Candidates can then choose their opponents: that will no longer be the case this year. Indeed, the second couple who will have to surrender to the final duel will be chosen after anonymous voting by all teams. Enough to give pride to the strategy while multiplying the bends. “It will really change a lot. Before the last ones, it took the less strong pair to go to the final duel. Now others may tell themselves, on the contrary, that it might be interesting to send the strongest into a final duel. This rule introduces a small layer of strategy and alliances, it will change the program a bit“, explains Thierry Guillaume, the producer of the show. Another novelty for the candidates: Stéphane Rottenberg will regularly activate the “hell roulette”. Secondly, it will force the couples to continue on stage under certain conditions, for example not saying a word or having to sing
The secret couple won’t be back and will be replaced by a new rule kept secret by the production, which promises surprises and new twists. In this 17th season, the great Beijing Express race will cross South America. Eight couples competing at the start of the game will have to travel through Bolivia, Paraguay and finally Brazil to win this 2023 edition. Filming took 35 days between August and last September. The finale, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, was severely disrupted by a tropical storm, forcing the production team to reconsider their plans and organize different events than originally planned.
