Death of Earth, Wind & Fire member Andrew Woolfolk: singer pays homage to him

Andrew Woolfolk, iconic saxophonist of the band Earth, Wind & Fire, died of an illness at the age of 71.

Andrew Woolfolk passed away on Sunday, April 24. The former major musician of Earth, Wind & Fire was a saxophonist during the band’s successful years as well as playing flute and percussion. After being a member of the group between 1973-1984, he made a comeback between 1987-1993.

Philip Bailey, one of the two lead singers of Earth, Wind & Fire, commemorated him on social networks by sharing a photo of him posing with Andrew Woolfolk. “I met him in high school and we soon became friends playing music. We lost him today, he’s been sick for over six years. (…) Great memories, great talent. Booski… See you on the other side, man‘, wrote Philip Bailey in mourning.

As a member of the acclaimed band that mixes genres and has sold 90 million albums worldwide, Andrew Woolfolk was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2017. On Tracie Spencer’s self-titled 1988 album and also Dance to the Light1996 album by Phil Collins.
