Invitation To A Bonfire showrunner Rachel Caris Love is AMC’s hopeful drama that will find a new home

AMC’s showrunner was recently fired Invitation to the campfire hope her psychological thriller ends up somewhere else.

Rachel Caris Love says she’s already talking about “finding a partner who can give us the support we need.” Her team had already completed four of the first six episodes when she learned before Christmas that AMC was scrapping the Boston-based project starring Tatiana Maslany, Ngozi Anyanwu and Pilou Asbæ.

The series has been ordered for six episodes and will air on AMC and AMC+ this year. But then campfirealong with the second season of 61st streetwas just hired by AMC Networks after the company announced it would cost about $400 million to write content.

“Everyone in the cast and crew is really devastated,” Love told Deadline. “When they called me they said it had absolutely nothing to do with creativity and everything to do with finance and accounting. It is very difficult to process when you do something very beautiful and special.”

“We have created something unique… an erotic, suspenseful and lush drama – told through the female gaze,” continues Love. “We made a nesting doll full of surprises. At its core, fraud, infidelity, murder. Our entire cast gave amazing performances. Freya Mavor, Pilou Asbæk, Ngozi Anyanwu and Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany were stunning. They gave their soul as did our entire cast and crew. Emmy-nominated Cherien Dabis directed the first two episodes, while the fabulous Lily Mariye directed episodes 103 and 104, and the incomparable Helen Shaver directed our grand finale. I’m very proud of what we’ve created together and can’t wait to look at the future of Bonfire.”

Invitation to the campfire Based on the novel by Adrienne Celt, is a psychological thriller set in a 1930s New Jersey girls’ boarding school. Inspired by the codependent marriage of Vladimir and Vera Nabokov, the series follows Zoya, a young Russian immigrant and gardener who becomes involved in a deadly love triangle with the school’s newest faculty member – an enigmatic novelist – and his charming wife.

This is Love’s first attempt at directing and creating her own show. Her previous credits include Physically and blind spot

Along with Love, Robin Schwartz and Kyle Laursen will serve as executive producers invitation while Carolyn Daucher is a producer.
