Power Slap: TBS postpones UFC tag team reality series premiere after incident involving Dana White

TBS is broadcast Power Slap: Road to Titlea reality series based on Dana White’s new sports league, although the UFC president was caught on camera beating his wife over the holiday season.

The Warner Bros. However, Discovery Network delayed the series’ premiere by a week after the incident.

Deadline expects TBS to air the first episode on January 18. It was originally scheduled to air on January 11. It was replaced in the schedule with a repeat Young Sheldon.

There were reports earlier today that the series had been canceled after being pulled from the January 11 schedule.

Power Slap is a new sports league founded by White, Lorenzo Fertitta and Craig Piligian, founder of Pilgrim Media which runs Lionsgate’s unscripted division. It is aimed at competitive openhand hitting.

The competition was created in collaboration with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Endeavour. It features contestants from around the world competing on the ultimate stage to demonstrate their strength, technique and determination.

Produced by Pilgrim Media Group, the eight-part series follows athletes as they compete for a Casthouse spot, first power slam leaderboard, future power slam competitions and global recognition.

While on vacation, White was seen punching his wife Anne in the face after she punched him at a nightclub in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He apologized in a statement after the video was leaked to TMZ, describing it as a “horrific” incident.

“There was a lot of alcohol involved, but that’s no excuse,” White told TMZ, which first released the footage. “You’ve heard me say it for years, there’s never an excuse for a man to touch a woman, and now I’m here on TMZ to talk about it.”

Yesterday, Deadline puzzled over Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, who criticized the bad behavior of the likes of Kanye West and Mel Gibson but remained silent on the incident, which damaged one of Endeavor’s most important business interests. Endeavor now has a 100 percent majority stake in UFC.

White has been UFC president since 2001, when Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta bought the company.
