It was only a matter of time, wasn’t it?
The chaos on Capitol Hill this week has already drawn a barrage after six failed votes to choose a speaker, some heavyweight satirists and ridicule.
After hours of debate on cable news Wednesday, Jon Stewart and Julia Louis-Dreyfus both took to social media to seemingly increasingly embarrass and endlessly embarrass embattled Republicans and GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) set. to seize the gavel of the House of Representatives.
Now postponed, Day 2 of wall-to-wall and voice-to-voice coverage on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, the former Daily show The host paid an ironic tribute to DC’s own cable network:
This is cspan’s best season… ever.

With the vote appearing to be delayed and deals stalled late Wednesday to secure the necessary 2018 votes McCarthy needs to achieve his lifelong goal as speaker, Louis-Dreyfus put his own spin on the situation. With that in mind, the multiple Emmy winner and former fictional Vice President and President of the United States has woven strange facts and fables to place the real-life MAGA chaos in the context of the once almost unimaginable mockery of the critically acclaimed sweep:

Of course, Stewart and Louis-Dreyfus’s POV comes after Democrats mocked their fellow GOPs across the aisle for nearly two days. While Dems Speaker of the House Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has consistently won the most votes for Speaker on the ballots, despite Republicans generally having a slim majority in the House of Representatives, Reps. as LA’s Ted Lieu made it clear that they liked the clown would enjoy the show:

Lieu’s colleague Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) also jumped on the popcorn bandwagon:
We’ll break out the popcorn at The Caucus until the Republicans pull themselves together. pic.twitter.com/5b4FriBjf7

In a nomination speech for McCarthy today in the House of Representatives, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) said to alert her own party by warning vocal Democrats not to mix the GOP bloodshed with “the popcorn and the blankets and the booze and the blankets.” enjoy those who come”.
This was all further material for Stewart:
If only there was a gif of someone looking at it expectantly while enjoying popcorn…

No doubt, with overnight arm-twisting and a seventh round of voting scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m. PT, there will be more to come — fun or not.
As Lieu pointed out after today’s final vote, this fiasco may seem humorous, but there are also some very real consequences.
The chaos caused by incapacity #KevinMcCarthy and ruling House Republicans have real implications. We currently have no members of Congress. We cannot see classified documents, hold committee hearings or monitor them. https://t.co/lLrgxEv2iJ
