Banijay takes full control of Beyond and prepares for a rebrand
Banijay took full control myth rapist Company Beyond International and plans to rebrand and rebrand the Australian outfit as the “necessary integration process” gets underway. The acquisition, worth around $30 million, was first revealed last October and gave the working French powerhouse control over an 8,000-hour catalog, including factual hits such as highway through hell, Heavy rescue: 401, Major technical error, Halifax: retaliation and deadly women. With the move, the distributor exits Banijay Rights, which includes shopping cook and big brother, with a catalog of around 130,000 hours. Today, Banijay took full control and a spokesperson said it was intended that “[Beyond’s] Distribution activities will go under the Banijay rights name.” The acquisition was made by means of a Scheme Implementation Deed, which means that Beyond will no longer be publicly traded following its implementation. Beyond Managing Director and CEO Mikael Borglund will remain in his current position. Banijay itself is part of FL Entertainment, which was founded last July and listed on Euronext Amsterdam through an agreement with the investment group SPAC.
‘Bridgerton’ star addresses BBC Doctor ‘Serengeti’
Bridgeton Star Adjoa Andoh takes on the role of Lupita Nyong’o, who narrates the third season of the BBC natural history documentary Serengeti. The latest season begins later this month and follows Bakari the baboon, Kali the lioness and Mzuri the leopard as they deal with a massive fire raging across the prairie. Andoh is an award-winning British stage actress who gained worldwide fame for her role as Lady Danbury on Netflix Bridgeton. Previous credits are included Invictus and east.
Deskpop Entertainment takes the world by storm with the title Vampire Flick Beneath Us All
EXCLUSIVE: Deskpop Entertainment has acquired the worldwide rights to Harley Wallen’s vampire film Among us allwith Sean Whalen (twister), Mary Olsen (Percy and the Olympics) and Yan birch (The people under the stairs). Written by Bret Miller and directed by Harley Wallen, the film follows Julie, a foster child on her way to her eighteenth birthday when she finds something buried with something unspeakable inside. The film was produced by the Wallens, Michael James Alexander, Annette Cama and Joseph Kelbie Williamson. A release is expected in early 2023.
1091 Media sets Doc “Contact: The CE-5 Experience” for digital release
EXCLUSIVE: 1091 Media has acquired the rights to the Alien documentary Contacts: The CE-5 Experience and set up a worldwide digital release. The film is a sequel to Close encounters of the fifth kind and follow the ufologist dr. Steven Greer as he makes contact with aliens and shares his secrets on how the public can do the same. The film was directed by Michael Mazzola, produced by Serena DC and executive produced by Greer and Evan Jenkins.
Argonon’s own Nemorin Signs Executive Creative Director
Argonon-owned Nemorin Film & Video has appointed an Executive Creative Director for Rupert Murdoch’s News UK’s Bridge Studio. Sachini Imbuldeniya fills the newly created role for the agency, which has worked with the likes of McDonald’s, American Express and Expedia. Imbuldeniya is the founder of Studio PI and comes from News UK’s commercial division Bridge Studio. Argonon bought Nemorin in late 2020 and Nemorin CEO Pete Ferugsson said the appointment of Imbuldeniya represented the “next phase of strategic growth”.
