Fred White was a drum prodigy who toured with the likes of Donny Hathaway and joined his brothers on Earth, Wind & Fire before his 20th birthday.

The band’s commercial golden age began in 1975 with the Billboard Hot 100 #1 single “Shining Star” from the disco era. Songs like 1976’s “Saturday Nite” were a hit even before his band “September” and “Boogie Wonderland” led them to stardom.

One of the cult scenes of French cinema, “Boogie Wonderland”, appeared in Intouchables directed by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano. After a chamber music concert organized by Philippe (François Cluzet), his caretaker and friend Driss (Omar Sy) decides to introduce him to “his” music. And his signature track is none other than Earth, Wind and Fire’s hit Boogie Wonderland. Omar Sy then starts an unforgettable dance. In 2013, the comedian even joined the line-up at the end of his set to sing and dance in September.

Fred White left the band in the early 1980s, but returned for their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. She continued to sing with artists such as Diana Ross and Bonnie Raitt.
