Love Island Great Britain returns this winter to bring the heat and ITV has released the first teaser for the new season featuring new presenter Maya Jama.
The short video shows Jama’s silhouette before the iconic transition period island of love The tune is played and the new host is revealed.
“New year, new series, new presenter. Let’s do it Maya Jama,” read the tweet accompanying the video.
So far, the British broadcaster has not confirmed the exact date when the reality series’ ninth season will air. However, the dating competition will definitely air “early 2023”.
Jama was called host island of love after the departure of Laura Whitmore. ITV confirmed Jama in October after several names were tossed around as a possible replacement.
“I’ve always been this big island of love Fan and I are so excited to host one of the most popular shows in the country! I can’t wait to enter the villa to meet all the islanders,” Jama said in a statement.
The winter edition of the dating show takes place in South Africa, unlike the summer in Mallorca, Spain. Paul Mortimer, director of reality programming and acquisitions and controller at ITV2, ItvBe & CITV, said of the search for the show’s new host: “Finding a new host to follow the amazing Laura Whitmore has never been easier No. However, in Maya Jama we have another high profile fan of the show who will be a great addition to the cast island of love Family. Cool, charming and charismatic, I speak for us all when I say Maya will also bring a unique presentation style to the show, as will Laura and of course the much missed Caroline Flack. We are very happy to have them on board.”
