The Marvel movie Eternals came out last year to less than stellar response. The film was supposed to be good, with an Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao directing the film and the incredible cast included Gem Chan like Sersi lover of humanity, Richard Maden like the almighty Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani like Kingo with cosmic powers, Lia McHugh like the eternally young, old soul Sprite, Brian Tiree Henry like the clever inventor Festus, Lauren Ridloff like the very fast Makkari, Barry Keoghan as the lonely and aloof Druig, Ma Dong-seok alias Don Lee like mighty Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, with Salma Hayek such as the sage and spiritual leader Ajak, e Angelina Jolie such as fierce warrior Thena, as well as post-credits stars Patton Osvalt such as Pip the Troll and Harry Styles like Eros.
The film was visually stunning, but some felt that the story and characters did not live up to their potential. My family loved it but unfortunately we were in the minority. Other than a reported confusion we reported a few months ago where Oswalt said a sequel was in the works that the rest of the cast said they were unaware of, we haven’t heard anything concrete about the future of these characters. Now we have another tidbit that could be something, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Some fans reported that Ma Dong-seok/Don Lee’s management agency has indicated that he will start work soon Eternals 2. “As production of the drama Hive remains unclear, Ma Dong-seok is discussing and planning the production of many films and dramas scheduled for next year,” the agency said via a translation from @UPDATESETERNALS. “Currently, Ma Dong-seok is filming Crime city. Holy Night: Demon Hunters, Wildernessand Crime city 3 are about to be released, e Eternals 2 and other global projects in which it will appear are expected to be produced.”
It seems that if anyone knows his schedule, it would be his management agency. But who knows? Perhaps this is just wishful thinking on their part. With no definitive confirmation one way or the other, we’ll just have to wait and see.
What would you like to see happen with the future of Eternals? Would you like to see a new writer-director come on board to revamp the story like Waititi did with Thor? I think it’s maybe the best option. Let us know below.
