Tradie is almost eaten alive by a giant crocodile after stopping to take a photo with the animal while driving in the countryside

A trader is lucky to be alive after coming within meters of a giant crocodile while trying to take a picture with it on the side of the road.

Kane Marcus was on his way to work when he spotted the crocodile near Gunbalanya in the Northern Territory last Tuesday.

Marcus got out of his van to take a picture with the dangerous animal that was only a few meters away from him.

His friend, who was riding in the vehicle behind him, filmed the encounter and showed the crocodile lunging at Mr Marcus, forcing the terrified trader to jump back

Mr. Marcus defiantly continues to film the animal on his phone as it changes course and bites the tire of his trailer.

“Brus, it’s bad,” said the friend from the side.

Mr. Marcus jumps into the back of his van and follows the crocodile behind his vehicle.

He stands precariously over the edge to take a photo with his phone, with nothing but the length of the rusty trailer to keep him safe.

Mr Marcus and his friend finally managed to take a picture next to the crocodile as it stopped across the street.

Footage of the close encounter is a reminder of the animals’ dangerous nature, and residents are advised to stay away from them.
