An American woman who moved to France has made a video about the terrifying moment she got into an altercation with notorious Parisian pickpockets.
Amanda Rollins, a writer and brand strategist from Boston, quit her job to move to the city with nothing but her cat, a suitcase full of clothes and $1,500.
She has since documented her new life as a Parisian on Instagram and TikTok, where she goes by the name @americanfille.
However, one of her latest videos recounted a terrifying experience where she came face to face with the city’s pickpockets.

She told her 909,000 followers: “I just fought the pickpockets of Paris – literally all of them, nine of them, and yes, I made a video that I will show you.”
“I just got home, I’m a bit stressed.” So I was there [Metro] Line 1 and I got off at the Palais Royale Musée du Louvre.
“As I walk down the stairs, I see a group of well-known pickpockets.”
The author explained: “When I say it’s a known group of pickpockets – when the drivers see them get on the train, they come over and say, ‘Hey guys, pickpockets just got on the train, so it’s good.’ on your stuff because.” She knows who these people are.
“I know who these people are. When you see them, you know who they are.”
Thinking back on the exchange, she immediately wanted to shout “Attention pickpocket” to let everyone around her know.
However, she realized that they were going in the same direction as her and decided to film them “so people can see what they look like and what they wear.”

The Boston native revealed that she has been robbed no fewer than five times, so this is “personal” for her.

The disturbing conversation took place on metro line 1 when Amanda got off at the Palais Royale Musée du Louvre

In the video, the group is seen shouting something in French at the tourist before she replies: “Touch me again and it will be the last time you use your fingers, I’m telling you now.”
Amanda ended the video by emphasizing, “Stealing from people is wrong, period. All this to say: I know what I just did is risky and probably stupid, but if you’re ever in Paris and see any of these people, shut down.”
She laughed: “For God’s sake, let this video save at least one person or I’ll be eliminated for no reason.”
