This beautiful island off the Irish coast – reminiscent of the fictional Craggy Island from the 1990s Channel 4 sitcom and sharing its name with the title character – can be yours for less than a million euros.
Middle Calf Island, on the south coast of Ireland, represents 64 hectares of “uninhabited solitude” and boasts a beautiful private beach, an abundance of wildlife and views of the “wild” Atlantic Ocean. That’s what it says Vladi Private Islandsthe company responsible for the sale.
The company’s chief executive, Farhad Vladi, told MailOnline Travel that the sale is expected to go ahead for less than €1m (£866,000) – significantly less than the average price of a flat in Westminster, which is currently £1, 22 million is, according to Foxtons. According to the list, six families once lived a self-sufficient life on the island. “A school was established there in 1835, which was also attended by students from neighboring communities,” it says, adding: “In 1841, the island had 39 inhabitants.” The last family left the island in 1937.

The general building permit for the reconstruction of a ruined building “for use as living space” and for the “reconstruction of outbuildings for additional use” was already granted, but has now expired, explains Vladi Private Islands
