Flight Attendant Reveals the WORST Stunts Passengers Pull to Get an Upgrade to First Class – and Tells How Airline Staff Are Really Trained to Handle Them

Everyone arrives at the airport hoping not to be put in first class. But a flight attendant has now revealed the extreme lengths to which people will go to get a little luxury in the air.

Flight attendant Destanie, who regularly posts her travel tips and tricks on TikTok, shared what flight attendants do when they find someone in a seat class they are not allowed to sit in.

According to the 25-year-old, who did not say which airline she works for, they would “never allow it”.

“If someone wants to change cabins or even get an upgrade, it has to be cleared with the gate agent,” the Philadelphia resident explained. “Flight attendants don’t care about that.”

She explained that some people have told her that the airline she works for actually considers granting upgrades theft because the passenger hasn’t paid for the ticket.

“Usually first class is always full,” she added. “So people don’t really have the space to do stupid things.”

If there are seats in first class, says Destanie, who regularly shares videos about her life as a flight attendant on TikTok, there is a sort of tier system to assign available seats.

“If you have a credit card or certain status with the airline, people usually get an upgrade,” she explained.

“There have been several times where boys have attacked me because they thought I was moving them to the first grade,” laughed Destanie. “Because they said I was beautiful.”

She even shared a story from a few months ago when a man tried this tactic, came up to her and told her she was “so pretty.”

“For example, these are the most beautiful cabin crew I have ever seen,” said the man.

Destanie said she knew what he wanted after pointing out that he could see an empty seat in first class.

“I literally looked him dead and thought: ‘I’m not going to take that compliment,'” she said.

TikTok users have shared some of their own experiences flying as passengers or even as part of the cabin crew

However, the flight attendant revealed that these are not the first class seats that people usually look for when boarding the plane.

“People are constantly trying to get to the exit lines,” she said. “There are upgraded seats in the exit rows, and on my airline you get free cocktails if you sit in the exit row.”

She added that exit lines are not immune to people trying to sneak into the seat.

“Once this guy moved and literally argued back and forth with me,” she recalls.

Destanie said the man argued “back and forth” and told her he could help an emergency – which she says didn’t work.

“You can’t go to the chair, it’s an enhanced chair,” she explained.

Some TikTok users have used the app to share their own flight experiences and thoughts about them.

“When I flew with my newborn, I was put in first class and had a hard time!” The flight attendant was great,” said one woman.

“Free cocktails in the exit line?” someone said incredulously. “I always assumed they wanted down-to-earth people there. I’m afraid when I’m at the exit I’ll get a sideways glance because I’ve got some.”

“I’m a gate agent and I have a lot of respect for my colleagues in the cabin. “I can’t imagine sitting for hours with these not so nice people,” wrote one TikTok user.

The flight attendant ended the TikTok by saying that she was friendly but firm when dealing with customers.

“I just want to be nice at first, but you have to move,” she said.
