Using online database Numbeo, we’ve also identified places that don’t deserve a toast when it comes to the price of a pint: the 10 places with the most expensive pints.

The 20 cheapest and most expensive pints of beer for tourists in Europe

For tourists, DebrecenLocated in Eastern Hungary, it offers the cheapest pint in Europe – it costs just 92 pence ($1.12) per 0.5 litre.

Thirsty travelers can book a cheap and cheerful holiday in Hungary’s second city and enjoy a pint for six times less than the eye-popping London average of £6.08.

The location is relatively easy to get to, with Wizz Air offering return flights from London Luton for less than £100 ($124.18).

But where else can beer lovers go without spending a lot of money?

An economic place is Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. It takes second place in our top 10 ranking of “cheapest” devices. Amid Soviet architectural blocks lie affordable bars where beer averages just £1.13 ($1.36).

In the third place Szeged in Hungary. Often referred to as the “City of Sunshine”, visitors can cool off with a pint for just £1.15 ($1.38).

Szczecin in Poland may not be as popular as other cities in the country, such as Krakow, Wroclaw or Gdansk, but the cheap drinks can be enough of a distraction for some. At £1.18 ($1.42) a pint, it comes fourth in our ranking.

According to Numbeo, the lesser-known Polish city of Szczecin offers one of Europe’s cheapest beers at just £1.18

Sibiu (above) in Transylvania, Romania, rounds out the top 10 cheapest ranking. Surrounded by medieval architecture, visitors to the tusk-tasting city can buy 500ml glasses of beer for £1.41 ($1.69).

The Bulgarian coastal town BurgasPints ​​​​​​are now sold for just £1.30 ($1.56), putting them in sixth place.

Targu Mures in Romania is in seventh place thanks to beer points, which cost an average of £1.32 ($1.59).

There are two places in Bosnia and Herzegovina in eighth place: Mostar And Banya Lukawhere pints of beer can be snapped up for the bargain price of £1.33 ($1.60).
