Author James McIntosh has a mission: to ensure London drinkers are “never more than 20 minutes from somewhere they can have a pint after 2am”.
To that end, the self-proclaimed “Pintman” has created a map showing all the late-licensed bars and pubs in the capital. To make the grade, the facility must have free entry, be open until 2am or later – and not be a nightclub.
So far, James “believes” he has covered 181 bars and pubs, and told MailOnline Travel that he is “constantly adding and subtracting based on people’s feedback”.
And feedback comes thick and fast on Twitter, where James is well known Jimmy Mac.
Is Tweet from the map has been retweeted over 220 times, liked over 3500 times and dozens of bars and pubs have been tagged for inclusion.

Here I am currently on the map of places to have late (non-club, free) drinks in London (earliest closing 2am). I’ll keep adding more as I feel like watching! Up to 109. https://t.co/0YHgTngtKp

James said on Twitter: “Things I’ve found: There are a lot of places that are open until 1am or 1:30am. That’s good, but it’s not quite right. Almost all of these restaurants are only open from Thursday to Saturday until late.
All in all, the nightly verdict on London is: not as bad as many complain, but could be better.
“Please let me know what I missed. Together we can make sure we are never more than 20 minutes away from somewhere after 2am where we can have a beer.”
Does James have favorites?
He told MailOnline Travel: “Probably PJ O’Connor is in Wood Green and the Hornsey Arms is in Hornsey. They are the ones that started it all – proper late night bars. I then had to expand it to bars, because there just aren’t that many bars open after 1am.’
James added that “perhaps my favorite thing about it was discovering the wildly optimistic opening hours of Sean Og’s in Harrow” – it’s open 24 hours a day.

His creation received much praise.
Twitter user Jack Pitt-Brooke said: “Jimmy, you’re really doing the gents job.”
And ‘The Lingerista’ said: ‘Thank you for your service’.
