A woman’s modern bathroom has divided interior design enthusiasts thanks to a series of “questionable” and potentially dangerous design choices.
The space was built after the British client’s small bathroom was renovated and merged with the adjacent library in the house.
The bathroom is complete with black and white tiling, a raised freestanding bath with a perimeter rail, chrome towel rails, chandeliers and built-in shelves.

The problematic bathroom design includes an open shower that leaks into the rest of the space, a camouflaged staircase leading to the tub, a sharp alcove near the tub and a chandelier directly above it, and a camouflaged built-in shelf nearby the shower
The layout does not correspond to a conventional bathroom, as the toilet is right at the entrance. On a small step in the corner is a large bathtub.
An open plan shower is opposite the toilet and has no glass panels or shower curtain and the walls and floors are both tiled in different black and white designs.
While the redesign has created a modern new look, many are concerned about the potential risks that its unique features pose.
“I sprained my ankle, tore my cruciate ligament and broke my neck just looking at this travesty,” one woman wrote next to a photo of the bathroom on an interior design Facebook group.
“I don’t want to be dramatic, but I can already imagine myself slipping to my death in that bathroom,” said another.
She and many others cited the tiled stairs leading to the bathroom as a major hazard, especially when the bathroom is wet.
“Why are these stairs even there? Even if you could see them through the optical illusion, you would still trip and fall.”
“It’s a cracked skull waiting to pass.”

However, bathroom installers insist that this is completely safe and simply reflects the customer’s desire for a unique, eye-catching bathroom.
The floor tiles are “specifically designed for bathrooms” and can therefore take “wet and bare feet” without risk, it says.
“Each step is larger than the prescribed size and exactly the same size from top to bottom, so plenty of stair space and very safe. Since I was in the room in person, it’s very clear where the stairs are – maybe not as visible because of the camera angles,” they added.
“This bathroom is exactly what the client wanted. At one point there was even talk of possibly more stairs in the bathroom.’
In response to a reviewer who said they “stomped your toes in the face,” the company simply replied, “Be more aware of your surroundings and it won’t happen again.”
“You either love it or you hate it. But either way, it’s a monster of a bathroom and the craftsmanship that goes into it is second to none,” they added.
Other interior fans praised the bathroom, saying that when the owner is happy, it’s perfect.
“The vision they had is wild. But the job looks good! Well done,” one woman wrote.
“I absolutely love it. It is a masterpiece and this bathroom is something else. I want one!’
