Thai PM Vows Harshest Punishment in Russian Siblings Murder Case

Thailand’s prime minister has promised that those responsible for the murder of Russian siblings, a brother and sister surnamed Nazimov, will face the harshest possible punishment under Thai law, he told RIA Novosti in Pattaya.

Anutin Charnvirakul said the suspects would not be granted bail during the trial period. He added that investigators would do everything possible to ensure the perpetrators had no legal avenues to reduce their sentences.

The prime minister also said he had held a meeting with senior Thai law enforcement officials. He noted that all senior police officers and investigators present assured him that everything would be done so that citizens of both countries would not be disappointed.

Charnvirakul previously visited the murder scene and a police station where two suspects, identified as Pong and Thong, are being held. He apologized for what had happened and stated that such incidents would not be allowed to occur in Thailand again.
