A Thai court has refused bail for two suspects accused of killing a Russian brother and sister and a Thai family of three, according to the newspaper Thairath.
The Pattaya Provincial Court rejected bail petitions from 43-year-old Thana Kytthong and 39-year-old Thongchai Sinin, who had already been placed in custody. The court cited the extreme gravity of the crimes, the severity of penalties prescribed by law, and the risk that the defendants could flee. Both men were transferred to a pre-trial detention center after the hearing.
Four people are now held in connection with the deaths of 22-year-old Diana Nazimova, her 17-year-old brother Roman Nazimov, and a Thai family of three. The suspects confessed to attacking the young Russians in order to steal their motorcycle. Contact with the siblings was lost early on July 26, when they left their lodgings.
