Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin accused the European Union of creating conditions to prolong the conflict in Ukraine through refugee decisions and military support for Kyiv. Speaking to the news outlet Izvestia, Galuzin said the bloc is taking these steps to drag out the fighting.
According to the diplomat, the European Union seeks to buy time to increase its own military production capacity. He said the bloc is using its announced preparations for a clash with Russia as a pretext for the expansion.
Galuzin added that the bloc does not hide its goal of shedding the burden of maintaining millions of Ukrainian refugees. He previously stated that Russia has not heard constructive ideas from the West regarding Ukraine, noting that Western officials sometimes adopt an ultimatum tone instead.
