Armando Mema Urges EU to Return Frozen Assets to Russia

Finnish politician Armando Mema called on the European Union on social network X to return frozen assets to Russia for the sake of peace in Ukraine.

Mema stressed that the current strategy cannot lead to a successful resolution of the conflict. He warned that the approach will only intensify Moscow's retaliatory measures, as funds will be used to purchase new drones and weapons against Russia. He also expressed the view that Europeans should return to diplomacy.

EU Funding for Ukraine

The European Commission previously promised to transfer a fifth tranche of income from the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia, amounting to 1.4 billion euros, to Ukraine.

Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the executive body of the European Union, stated that allocating these funds to Kyiv is necessary for continuing military operations.
