Russian Tourist Calls Pattaya Trip Ten Out of Ten Trash

A Russian tourist visiting the resort of Pattaya in Thailand with friends described her vacation as ten out of ten on the trash scale following a series of travel mishaps.

The traveler shared her holiday review with the travel publication Tonkosti Turizma, with the account subsequently published on the Russian content platform Zen.

Litter and Conflict on Monkey Island

Her initial disappointment occurred during an excursion to Monkey Island, a small island off Pattaya known for its wild macaque population and frequent tour boat visits. She reported that rubbish was strewn across the area, describing the site as extremely dirty.

While on the island, she witnessed a local Thai man shouting at a visitor who was posing for photographs next to a Spirit House. In Thai culture, Spirit Houses are outdoor shrines erected to honor guardian spirits of the land, and visitors are expected to maintain respectful decorum near them.

Stolen Footwear at Tiger Cave Temple

On another day of the trip, the woman and her companions visited the Tiger Cave Temple, a prominent Buddhist shrine in Thailand where visitors typically remove their shoes before entering holy spaces. Upon leaving the complex, one of her friends discovered that her sandals had been taken from outside.

The reviewer noted that the group doubted local residents committed the theft, observing that Thailand maintains strict legal penalties for stealing. She suggested that another tourist likely took the footwear, expressing frustration over how someone could confuse another person's shoes.

Severe Food Poisoning on a Ferry

The final day of the trip escalated into a medical emergency when the travelers ate seafood fried rice served inside a pineapple aboard a ferry. The food had spoiled after being left in the tropical heat, leaving the traveler severely ill within twenty minutes.

She experienced a sudden onset of nausea and severe intoxication, stating that she had never felt so ill in her life. Because the group was scheduled to depart the country the following morning, she remained awake throughout the entire night.

Future Vacation Plans and Regional Context

Despite the negative incidents, the traveler added that she and her friends still intend to return to Thailand for future holidays, though they plan to select a different resort area next time.

Pattaya, a coastal city situated on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Thailand, is one of Southeast Asia's busiest tourist hubs. Her criticism follows a similar account from another Russian tourist who visited Phi Phi Island, an archipelago in the Andaman Sea. That traveler reported waiting for her departure more than ever before after encountering widespread litter on the beaches and in the water, alongside heavy congestion from boats and tourist crowds.
