Russian blogger lists most common tourist phrases in Turkey

A Russian travel blogger has compiled a ranking of the most common phrases used by her compatriots while staying at Turkish hotels. She published the list on her personal blog, Mom at the Sea | Turkey and Travel, on the Dzen platform.

The author admitted that she does not like eavesdropping on other people's conversations. However, she said that at hotels where Russians typically stay, one does not need to listen intentionally because emotional scenes of family vacations can be observed simply by walking around the grounds.

Common vacation phrases

Her list of phrases included telling a child to get out of the pool because the family came to the sea to rest, and declaring that children will not be taken on future trips because parents spend money on them only for the kids to sit in their room on a phone all day. Other common remarks involved asking a partner if they could refrain from drinking before 10 a.m. for at least one day.

The blogger also highlighted comments about food and photography, such as telling someone to put normal food on their plate rather than macaroni with potatoes, and telling a child not to take more ice cream before agreeing to one last piece. She also noted requests for a proper photo to be taken and suggestions that someone fetch a beer to get their daily steps in.

She added that a family vacation in Turkey is defined by everyone being slightly tired of each other while already selecting a hotel for the following year. Previously, the blogger visited a luxury all-inclusive Turkish hotel where she noted that the villas looked like pictures from advertising brochures about a beautiful life.
