From pictures to jugs: what most often disappears from Moscow restaurants

You come to a restaurant and everything around is beautiful – and the plate on which the dessert was served, the cutlery on the table and even the trick – you just want to take it home.

And if after a stormy party every second person accidentally left the bar with a glass, then what causes the guests to tremble after a delicious dinner?

The Fashion Vibes columnist Anya Baturina learned from the restaurants themselves what the most desired mug among guests is.

Irons at Sartoria Lamberti

These irons are the legend of the restaurant, almost all guests of the establishment look at them. At some point during lunch or dinner, the iron suddenly “jumps” into the bag – some guests move on their own, others after long persuasion of their friends. A company stole two irons during the evening. But there are cameras all over the restaurant and you can spot the loss very quickly. Sartoria Lamberti employees write letters, messages, appeal to the conscience of the guests. Irons are sometimes returned when shipped with a bottle of champagne.

Pictures at Anonymous

On the wall in Untitled there are many paintings brought here by people from different countries. The restaurant’s co-owner and ideologist Konstantin Samarin can immediately name about 10 people who disappeared from the restaurant at different times. In addition to the paintings, small vases and glasses disappeared from the establishment, but guests often returned them.

Dogs at Buro TSUM

Dogs are a true Buro TSUM totem. The first was a salt and pepper shaker, two pugs with magnets in their noses that attracted each other. They were bought in France even before the opening of the restaurant. They say they run out very quickly – at some point they began to disappear mysteriously and often one by one. The waiters, of course, noticed this and thought for a long time how to imply the correct phrase, “caught” to the guests. They approached the tables and asked: “Will you take the second one?”. After that, of course, the first one was returned. Usually guests want to buy a salt shaker and pepper shaker first, but when they are rejected, they try to get it by any means.

At some point, the circulation of the dogs (salt and pepper shakers) ended and the Buro TSUM team began looking for an opportunity to buy or order them from somewhere. The funniest collection appeared in the restaurant in the summer of 2019 (opened in the spring of 2018) – dogs in swimsuits. It ended right and quickly. At the end of last year, dogs appeared in the “Office”, as similar as possible to the first ones. By the way, in the small hall you can see all the dog collections that have changed over the years.

Decanter at FLØR

Tables at FLØR have beautiful, voluminous water jugs for every guest to use. When one of them “leaved” from the restaurant – none of the staff saw her crush, so she most likely got into the bag of one of the visitors.

Frequent visitors to the restaurant certainly remember the beautiful antique glasses, which were once in large numbers, but only a few pieces remained over time. “I don’t care if someone gets high and drinks at home and remembers us, then I’m in,” says Konstantin Samarin, co-owner and ideologist of the restaurant.
