A New Jersey couple’s wedding was devastated by a fire at their wedding venue less than an hour before their wedding and their florists burst into tears.

Yomaris Coromina of flower and event design firm Diva Blooms documented the fire at The Rockleigh in Bergan County in a video she shared on Instagram on Thursday.

“Today was just the most perfect day. We had a beautiful setup in The Rockleigh, New Jersey, and then I started walking towards the ceremony hall to put out the petals, and I started smelling the smoke,” he explained. “Look, the room’s on fire and they’re canceling the wedding.”

Coromina turned on the camera to show off the beautiful flower arrangements she and her team had been working on all day.

“This is the great work we do,” he said, adding, “I have all my inventory here. It smells like pure smoke. It smells awful, as if all the smoke is getting in. There are fire trucks and ambulance personnel everywhere. There are police officers.’

She began to cry as she said she had been awake since 4am and that her team had “worked tirelessly for this event”.

According to Northvale police, the fire started in a cauldron and quickly spread to the second floor, but everyone managed to get out of the building safely.

“I feel sorry for the bride,” he said. “It’s just getting worse. I just want to cry. It’s so bad. It’s like there’s smoke all over the place.”

In a later video, Coromina announced the resumption of the ceremony after moving the event outside, but eventually the unnamed couple decided to postpone their wedding.

She posted on her Instagram Stories pictures of the bridal party members posing for the beautiful decor and photo before the fire broke out.
